Walter Mitty Basketball
As Walter was driving his car over the bumpy roads of the town, the engine kept sputtering causing his imagination to take the better of him. Before he knew it, he had stopped at a red light dreaming about being a soldier in Germany fighting off the Nazi’s, but was abruptly awoken by the people behind him honking and yelling for him to drive. “Drive it’s a green light, drive.”
…”Walter drive, the basket is open!” screamed the coach with only 15 seconds left and losing 72 to 73 in the fourth quarter. After hearing his coach, Walter drove fast towards the basket for a lay up, but he was smacked by a 6 foot 7 center. Walter threw the ball up in an attempt to draw a foul and succeeded. The crowd was on their feet screaming when Walter stood on the free throw line with sweat all over his body. Breathing heavily, Walter wiped the sweat from his forehead, dribbled three times, took one long deep breath, and then finally fired the ball up. With a swish, the ball fell right through the net, tying the game up at 73 to 73 with only five seconds remaining. Walter, with extreme nervousness, went through his routine and then shot the ball. The crowd was dead silent while the ball flew through the air and then…
“Hey Walter! Pay attention you’re going way too fast! Calm down!” yelled Mrs. Mitty. “I know, I know,” said Walter as they then drove on in silence.

Walter Mitty Race
As Walter pulled up to a yellow light trying to get home after a long day of shopping, a white sports car blew through the now red light. Following close behind were several police cars, which were attempting to stop the reckless driver…
Walter could feel the wind blow through his hair as he drove a white convertible going 60 mph through the city’s streets. He was bobbing and weaving through cars and pedestrians all while being chased by the cops, but this was no problem for the famous White Flash. Walter was famous around the city for being impossible to catch and for being the best and fastest driver that people have ever seen. Walter could feel the power of the engine increase with every movement of the gearshift. There were at least ten cops trailing him, but Walter had never been caught before and was not planning on it. He quickly let up on the gas, went threw a red light, hit the brake, and turned the steering wheel causing him to turn left and making a U-turn. The cops were unable to do this fast enough, and Walter was already driving away when…
“Pull over Walter! Pull over!” said Mrs. Mitty as the cop chasing them continued blaring his siren. Walter then parked his car by the side of the road and waited for the police officer to come over to Walter’s car.
